The PPC choir is a small, but mighty group of open-minded musicians. We rehearse every Thursday evening at 7:30 pm and perform anthems on Sundays during the worship services.
The choir strives to incorporate a variety of musical styles and techniques into our repertoire. We perform everything from classical works, American spirituals, country gospel songs, to modern Praise and Worship music.
The choir has participated in several exciting events. In December of 2012, the choir collaborated with the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church Choir in a benefit performance of Handel's Messiah. The concert successfully raised thousands of dollars for the Mt. Carmel shelter in Washington, D.C.
In May of 2013 the choir initiated a fundraising campaign in order to commence repairs on the church's original pipe organ. The entire congregation pitched in to provide an evening dinner and variety show performance, where we discovered many hidden, local talents. The show was hosted by our own pastor, David Williams, and members from across the Poolesville community came out to display their talents.
The music director, Monica Harwood, is a recent graduate of Catholic University with a B.M. In Vocal Performance. If you are interested in sharing a musical talent or becoming involved in the music ministry, please contact Monica.
